Representative Cases

Represented student in hazing, bullying, cyberbullying, harassment, and retaliation lawsuit.  Jury found in favor of student on claims of negligence against school district and high school principal. 

Represented La Noue Development LLC in a construction defect action in Multnomah County Circuit Court, the Oregon Court of Appeals, and the Oregon Supreme Court. Favorable verdict, which affects interpretation of indemnity clauses. Montara Owners Association v. La Noue Development, LLC, 357 Or. 333, 353 P.3d 563 (2015); Montara Owners Association v. La Noue Development, LLC, 259 Or. App. 657, 317 P.3d 257 (2013).

Represented Deere & Company in lawsuit involving allegations of a defective tractor. Obtained directed verdict on one claim and a defense verdict on the remaining claims at trial.

Served as local counsel for litigation involving ephedra dietary supplement.  Favorable settlements reached.  

Represented developer of two multi-unit condominium conversion projects in lawsuits filed by the respective home owner associations. Favorable settlements reached in both cases.

Represented developer and general contractor in lawsuit involving allegations of defective construction on multi-unit townhomes.  Favorable settlement reached for both the developer and general contractor.  

Obtained verdicts in favor of the developer and general contractor and against three subcontractors following five-week jury trial.

Defended chemical plant in case involving accidental release of hydrochloric acid. Obtained defense verdict at trial.

Served as local counsel to General Motors in cases involving side-saddle fuel tanks. Settlements reached in all cases.  

Served as local counsel to Dow Agrosciences in cases involving pest management products.  Early settlements reached in all cases.  

Successfully defended the Ford Motor Company against claims brought by a plaintiff who alleged the vehicle he purchased had either a design defect or was damaged during manufacture or transport.
